Pessimism is of no use. We talk too much about problems and too little opportunities when it comes to climate protection, they keep saying. It’s great that you have preserved your optimism as a climate economist.
Sigrid Stagl: I am a very hopeful person. This is my personality. My parents’ house has already given me something positive out of problems and conflicts. I don’t always succeed, but I try reflexively. And optimism is also necessary to do my job. Because if I would take everything I read scientifically as much as Greta Thunberg, I would fall into depression and couldn’t get out of the hole.
There are definitely too little to do worldwide to stop climate change. The urgency is not recognized or ignored. Doesn’t that let you despise?
