“I have never come so easily to my money”
Jens Thorbek has a home in both Thyborøn and Helsingør, and he spends much of his time as a master on the harbor buses in Copenhagen.
The buses that sail both tourists and locals through the city's canals have given Jens a new everyday life that differs markedly from his past life as a fisherman.
This is how it writes TV MIDTVEST.
« I have never ever come to my money so easily, » says Jens, who does not hide that the capital has not won his heart.
He emphasizes that it has nothing to do with people, but that the surroundings play a really big role.
Big decision turned upside down on everything
With 30 years of experience as a fisherman and 22 years aboard the same ship, Jens made a decision to leave the profession.
According to him, it was due to fishing changing as politics and biology began to play a bigger role.
Although he does not regret his change, Jens admits he misses fishing, as it was 20 years ago:
Jens is not the only former fisherman who has found its way to Copenhagen's harbor buses. About half of the 30 employees on the buses have a background as fishermen, and it is a workforce that is particularly appreciated.
Although Jens misses his hometown in Thyborøn and the free life at sea, he plans to continue as a master for many years to come.
