« I feel good about this decision »
Gylfi Guðjónsson, fisheries director of Fisk Seafood in Sauðárkrókur, resigned last month. This concludes his half -century career in the fisheries sector.
« I feel good about this decision – this has become good, » was by Gylfa in announcement on the company’s website in early May due to this milestone. « It has become time to make younger people with new knowledge and ideas. I step both satisfied and saturated from this table and know that my wife also celebrates this juncture in our lives. Of course, there is a lot to miss and there I have not least in mind the wonderful people I have been working through.
Gylfi worked for over a quarter of a century at sea and more than as long as in land as then in sales and marketing and fishing management.
The announcement states that Gylfi was born in 1955 in Ísafjörður but moved from there 15 years old with parents and siblings to Skagastrand when his father, captain Guðjón Ebbi, was hired to Skagstrend. His father was, among other things, captain of the freezer trawler Örvar HU, who is said to have been the first Icelandic trawler where the catch was fired on board.
Gylfi and his brother Jonni both did like their father and became fishermen, but Jonni recently ended a long and successful captain’s career at Fisk Seafood.
Gylfi went to sea at the age of 16 and during the career he went to all the jobs except the chef and the engineer until he got his rights and worked as a mate and captain for Skagstrending. About two decades ago he moved to Sauðárkrókur where he started working as the sales and marketing manager of Fisk Seafood and soon after that he took up the job as the company’s fisheries manager.
