I do not argue with anyone as fast as my brother

Some voices stay with us long after we turn off the radio. Miha Šalehar He is one of those who not only speaks but vomits thoughts with considerable speed and sincerity, and regularly writes columns for the newspaper Work.

In the podcast Co -driver With its distinctive mixing of irony, existential humor and social analytics, it has opened more than one might expect from a radio presenter. And yet – everything was there. Alcohol, family, brother, theater, engines, trips with a son across Slovenia and consequences – always consequences.

Miha Šalehar has made a leap – even physical – on stage for the last year. With a show he created on the basis of his own book Indoor pirhe went into the world of theater. But Miha is not a player, he says. She is someone who tells the story, lives in it, but is aware: “The difference between the actor and the actor is obvious. The first manages crafts. But I act – with enthusiasm, but without illusions. « 

His performance, which he plays at the Ljubljana Siti Theater and on Slovenia’s tours, is based on an hour and 15 minutes long monologue – learning the text by heart made him a new obstacle, the porch, which made him even want to give up after the third staging. But he insisted – he has almost fifty of them today. « Now I’m enjoying it, » he says.

Brothers on stage: project with Matevž Šalehar

A new show, together with his brother Matevž (Hamo), creates the title Brothers. The premiere is scheduled for October. It is an intimate but also humorous discovery of dynamics between the brothers, who have been creating separately for many years, but now together. In the show, they embark on a public perception, often a pre -edge based on media images. « People imagine that they know us, but it’s not always close to the truth, » says Miha.

Fraternal dynamics full of humor, competitiveness and childhood resentment will be the red thread of the show. « I do not argue with anyone as fast as my brother, but that’s why it’s worth it – because it’s right, » he says. He adds: “We are looking and writing a story that will be honest but also fun. I hope we won’t step up – at least not on stage. « 

From an alcoholic eclipse to sober self -reflection

Book Indoor pirdescribed by Šalehar as the « Internal Renewal Document », was created during the period when he stopped drinking alcohol. He is not looking for heroism in sobriety, but looking for the truth. “This is not that sobriety with the clenched teeth. It’s organic, I don’t miss it anymore, « he says. It describes the void that occurs when you give up a life pattern and a process when you fill this void with new content.

When it dissects its own causes of drinking, there is a broader social diagnosis. “Slovenians are actually a form of self -therapy with alcohol. Social pressure, historical trauma – all this leads to collective folklore of drinking. Alcohol is not just a spread, it is a cultural symbol. And that’s worth considering. « 

Young, social networks and the end of rebellion?

Miha wonders what it means to be a rebel in Instagram. “When we grew up, there were seven subcultures, each carrying its own protest. Today, however, everything immediately becomes a product, gets its price and its shelf. Where is the rebellion here? If you get ‘characters’ for your protest, is he protest? « He thinks.

Social networks represent young people a world in which everyone is happy, fit and Bali. Reality, however, is often completely different. « Young people live in a constant race, existential distress and without a mistake, » he believes.

Humor as a valve and tool of truth

According to Šalehar, humor plays a key role today. « In times when emotional sensitivity is commanded, humor is the only way to say things without war, » he thinks. It points to the paradox: the political left, which sometimes knew how to joke at its account, loses its sense of humor today. “We are afraid of our own shadows. Humor, however, is, as throughout history, the last space of freedom. « 

Miha is synonymous with the radio word. But he admits that he listens to podcasts in the car today. His show Mihilism has its own audience, the last episode with Simon at homeThe former Venezuela prisoners became viral. “The story is brutal but human. And I wonder if we really became dependent only on excesses, « he wonders.

And the legendary Heat stand? “I miss him. It was a place for the lucid thoughts of people. Sometimes one simple man offers insight that you don’t even get in college. I miss that – and maybe one gets back. « 

Cyclist, motorcyclist, romantic

When he does not write, he does not lead or play, Šalehar cyclists. “I have one bike enduro, nothing special. I drive down the Polhograds, where I started. And that is enough for me. ”He does not hide his passion for engines: this year he will drive Triumph 765 Rs. “This is a new addiction. When I don’t have an engine, I’m looking for a new one. I read, watch, dream. And then there comes the moment when I choose – and I’m in the game again. « 

With his views on electric motors and two -wheelers, he remains true to the classic experience. Sound, vibration, power – all this means more than quiet battery efficiency.

Although he might expect cynicism from Šalehar, his story with his brother Matevž is moving. “I was the one who took more in childhood. And now we are looking for a story that will be ours. Honest. Maybe also a little satisfaction, maybe a remedial exam. But for sure – honest. «
