Inclusion of manufacturers in tourism

The panel will talk about how we transform ourselves according to sustainable tourism, and the topic of shortening the supply chains becomes a priority. Because international supply chains are vulnerable to political decisions and global crises, the importance of local production and services, sustainability and resistance is constantly growing. In the context of Croatian tourism, which are compared to the exploration with a flowing boiler for imported goods, we open a debate on the possibilities and potential for larger involvement of domestic manufacturers in a tourist product.
The panel will participate Kresimir Tomic, Secretary of the Zagreb Caterers’ Association, Damir Krešić, Director of the Institute for Tourism, Robert Pende, Director of the Entrepreneurship Development Directorate, Investment and Competitiveness of the Tourist Economy, Ministry of Tourism and Sports, and Roko Romić, founderwho also revealed to us the biggest challenges in the launch of a small business.

– The biggest challenge is definitely surviving the first years of business, which is a phase where you do not have a stable customer base, and costs just come and do not stop. When you offer a product that is unknown to many, like Kombuche, you have to build a brand in parallel and educate the market. It is not easy to ‘persuade’ people to give a chance to something new while you are still learning to swim in entrepreneurial waters. But with a clear vision, a lot of effort and belief in what you do, and with the right business partners, there are slowly creating foundations on which you can further grow and develop the story you believe in – he presents his experience of Roko, otherwise a scholarship player in the UPPLIFT Academy launched by Mastercard.

Strategic planning becomes an imperative

On the panel ‘Wind in the back: the instruments of strengthening the Croatian economy’ will participate Višnja Božinović, Member of the Directorate for Business with Population and SMEs, Raiffeisenbank Croatia, Ante Janko Bobetko, Deputy CEO, Hamag Bicro, and Sladjana Cosic, head of the European Investment Bank in Croatia. It will talk about how the economy today is characterized by sudden and often politically motivated disorders, and the consequences will be felt by European manufacturers, including those who are part of Croatian export chains. That is why developing domestic capacity for resistance – through better use of European funds, investment incentives and strategic planning – becomes imperative.
