Hurezeanu marks « a moment of excellence »
The day of friendship between Romania and Germany marks a moment of excellence in the Bucharest-Berlin relationship and highlights the dynamic political-diplomatic and sectoral contacts, respectively the ‘vibrant’ cooperation at the EU and NATO, said Foreign Minister Emil Hurezeanu.
Hurezeanu hosted a public diplomacy event on Tuesday to mark the Friendship Day between Romania and the Federal Republic of Germany, attended by Germany’s ambassador to Bucharest, Peer Gebauer, the deputy of the German minority in the Parliament of Romania, Ovidiu Ganț, the president of the Democratic Forum of the Germans in Romania, Paul Jurgen Porr Romanian-German, including within the works of the Romanian-German government commission for the issues of German ethnicity in Romania.
According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Romanian-German relationship of a strategic nature has been developed in the 33 years who have passed the signing of the bilateral treaty on friendly cooperation and partnership in Europe.
« The minister highlighted that the Romanian-German relationship is based on a common historical past, on cultural affinities and strong human connections, as well as the shared desire to build a better European future. Minister Emil Hurezeanu has shown that the day of friendship between Romania and Germany marks a moment of excellence and in Berlin. Political-diplomatic and sectoral, respectively vibrant cooperation at the EU and NATO.
Hurezeanu also evoked that all these developments take place in the context in which this year is celebrated 145 years since establishing diplomatic relations between Romania and the Federal Republic of Germany.
On April 4, 2024, the President of Romania promulgated the law for the establishment of April 21 as ‘Friendship Day between Romania and the Federal Republic of Germany’.
The Romanian-German bilateral relations are carried out within the treaty between Romania and the Federal Republic of Germany on friendship and partnership in Europe, signed in Bucharest on April 21, 1992.
On February 20, 2025, Romania celebrated 145 years since establishing diplomatic relations with RF Germany.
