Hunders from Hofstetten is urgently looking for nine puppies from Greece at home

Nine dog puppies from Greece hope for a new home in the Landsberg district. It is a crazy story that Fritz Weigner from Hofstetten tells of our editorial team. But she also goes very heart, and so she finds the way to the Landsberger Tagblatt: Nine sweet, trusting dog puppies from Greece are looking for a new home. Will you find it in the Landsberg district?

With Fritz Weigner, the dogs tries to convey. His dog Apollo was also such a lost soul.

There are cat people and dog people. Fritz Weigner (70) from Hofstetten is a dog. Even as a child, he worked his parents until he got a shadocolar. « Recki then had to listen to all my school concerns, » recalls Weigner. More followed on Recki. 1982 was a fate for Weigner. He came to Greece, where his family has a house in the Lamia region in Middle Greece to help with the olive harvest. A planned stay of four weeks became four years. In time, Weigner not only met his future wife Katerina. Bongo, a large Spaniel hunting dog mix, also ran him. He actually belonged to the olive horn owner, but one day he stood in the mouth on Weigner's property with a kitten in the mouth. The two stayed, Bongo woke up and the cat fought the scorpions in the house. An idyll would not be the countless half -controlled dogs who came to the house from anywhere from the Macchia to beg. « If you feed them, you can't get rid of them anymore, » Weigner describes the dilemma, which is now open. The heart defeated the mind: Weigner's matters rattled the surrounding butchers, begged meat and bones, boiled ride and thus fed the wild dogs. Until it grew over their heads.

The sun shines in Weigner's kitchen, under the table Döst Apollo. Also such a Greek find. It came to Hofstetten ten years ago with relatives from Fritz Weigner, so he was not asked for long. « The puppy was traumatized by the trip and moved into a corner, » recalls the 70-year-old. But that lay down over time, and today Apollo is friendly and is trusting.

Weigner saved the life of a young dog

Apollo has his home. For nine puppies who live at his house in Greece, Fritz Weigner has not yet found any. It seems to be his fate that dogs always find their way to him. But this time it is a very special story that happened. When Fritz and Katerina were once again in Greece in September 2024, they came home from shopping and found two in front of their garden gate two terribly barking dogs before. « I couldn't explain that, but then saw that something was moving in our fish pond, » says Weigner. There he discovered a small dog that had fallen into the water and held onto a stone of the bank border with the last strength. « I pulled him out, fed him later, but the next morning he was gone. » But the two who had called him to help were still there. Black and large. White and tender. Nero and Bianca, a young dog love couple. The strong Nero and the shy Bianca, whose scars on the neck still told that they had been tied with wire, were very different from all the dog pairs that Weigner knew so far. They were a real couple and remained after the young bitch had given birth to nine puppies at the end of November. Six males, three bitches, many of them black or black-brown, some white with spots.

Fritz and Katerina were difficult for the journey home, they had asked countless people if they couldn't take a dog, without success. So they filled the dry food supplies with a heavy heart, neighbors and friends now take care of the care. Everything is still going well, but if the males get bigger, they are sold by the parents. Then danger lurks in the wilderness, by cars or hunters. There is no reception center that could take on. An animal -loving Greek nearby is already taking care of a constantly growing crowd of wild dogs, now there are 98. Nothing happens from the state to curb the stray.

« At the moment, the puppies are so small that they should be taken on the plane, » says Weigner, hoping that love for animals from the district could decide to take a dog with them, perhaps on a vacation trip. Fritz Weigner would organize everything in advance so that the dogs are vaccinated and ready for travel. If you are interested, you are welcome to call it: phone: 0170/3064433.
