Bruges

A photo in a photo booth with girlfriends, your sweet or family: at Photostop you make the memory of your visit to Bruges Tangible. Jeroen Bernaerts (28) and his girlfriend Faye Marichal got to know the concept in Asia and decided to introduce the spaces with photo booths in Flanders. After Ghent they now also opened their second case in Bruges.

At the beginning of this year they opened a first store of Photostop with two photo booths in Mageleinstraat in Ghent. There is no crew there: visitors can open the front door themselves and serve the photo booth via a QR code, after which you can also pay digitally. That is partly different in Bruges: crew is still not there, but Jeroen added a few tablets to pay. « In Ghent we noticed that not everyone was familiar with the QR codes, » says the entrepreneur. « That is why we have decided to provide tablets in Bruges, so that everyone gets the chance to pay. »

Camera surveillance

There are a lot of accessories at the entrance to cheer up your photo: from crazy sunglasses to a colorful hat. A photo is taken from above in the red photo room. Visitors pose for three photos, with four seconds in between. Everyone can choose how many accessories are borrowed. Anyone who wants to take glasses or caps with you is worth it, because camera surveillance hangs in the building to keep an extra eye on things.

Inspiration

The couple decided to take the leap after a trip in Thailand. Photo booths are eagerly used there and they are – like in Paris, in the meantime – and part of the streets. Ghent and Bruges were a conscious choice. « We live in Ghent, so open our first case, we seemed obvious, » says Jeroen. « My girlfriend comes from around ‘t Brugse and a second case here also seemed logical. In Ghent the concept is successful and that is why we did not hesitate for a sequel. »

For the time being there are two photo booths in Bruges, but that will change in the future. Photostop is open every day from 10.30 am to 9.30 pm.
