Huge chaos by the pope’s corpse

When darkness falls over the St. Peter’s Square in Rome, there is usually a calm down over the religious heart of the city. But on Wednesday night, the silence was transformed into chaos.

The clock was approaching 22.45, and thousands of people stood like herring in a barrel, ready to catch a glimpse of the deceased Pope Frans.

What should have been a solemn procession developed into something reminiscent of Roskilde Festival, just with nuns, priests and tourists instead of young people with beer and tents.

It writes SE & HEAR

After hours in line, the many visitors were finally closed, only to find that another queue was waiting behind the next pillar.

Between pilgrimage and Romans in haste, a priest overtooks AirPods and a woman with a stroller. The nuns also found smut roads, and among the waiting there were a mood that was anything but pious.

« It’s unbearable, » you could almost hear Queen Mary say, she had been present. Instead, it was the visitors themselves who had to decide on reality: that a place in hell might be worth the price to get in the queue faster.

Inside St. Peter’s Church finally fell. The golden silence replaced the tumult outside.

And there, on a simple stretcher, Pope Frans lay peaceful and in his modest coffin. When the clock struck midnight, the Swiss Guard’s soldiers lifted their Hellebarrder for a change of guard. An almost poetic moment in the midst of all human turmoil.

It turned into three seconds at the coffin after three hours of battle to get there. A last greeting to a pope that preached simplicity in live live, but which in death became the focal point of a popular fever.

A hint with a giant cross for the cardinals that now have to choose his successor.
