HS information: Due to these suspicions of crime, the Commander of the Coast Guard resigned last year

Central Criminal Police has completed the former commander of the Gulf Coast Guard Risto Jääskeläinen for pre -trial investigation. Police suspect that Jääskeläinen had drove the car into intoxication and used the Border Guard's car unauthorizedly for their own times.

He is thus suspected of being committed by aggravated drunk driving, endangering road safety and a service offense.

Jääskeläinen resigned and retired prematurely last year. The reason was suspected criminal offenses on him.

Authorities have not previously disclosed what Jääskeläinen suspects had done.

Central Criminal Police Criminal Commissioner Sami Liimatainen It now says that the incident started in one way on July 19 last year. At that time, Jääskeläinen is suspected of having committed by the Border Guard's car for aggravated drunk driving and endangering road safety in southern Finland.

According to Liimatainen, the car drifted out of the road and suffered damper damage, but no personal injury occurred. There were no other persons involved in the situation.

In connection with the incident, the Jääskeläinen was also suspected of a service offense. It applies to the use of the Border Guard vehicle in its own times, contrary to the guidance and regulations between 2021 and 2024.

Suspected aggravated drunk driving and endangering road safety have been transferred to prosecution. In the case of a service offense, the Border Guard will decide whether to transfer it to prosecution.

Helsinki Sanomat said last August that Jääskeläinen did not defend his operations in any way in the internal consultation of the Border Guard.

Jääskeläinen admitted, according to the documents received by HS, that he had behaved unlike his position and role as commander of the Coast Guard.

Jääskeläinen was personally heard by the head of the Border Guard Pasi Kostamovaara.

Jääskeläinen said at the hearing that he had no presentation of his actions as defense.

When asked, he acknowledged that his actions have been able to jeopardize trust in proper performing tasks within the Border Guard.

In addition, he admitted that the suspicion of crime has an impact on his or her ability to perform his or her mission as a commander of the Gulf Coast Guard.

Jääskeläinen also stated that he had not behaved as required by his position and duties. He announced that he had resigned from the beginning of September.
