HRT left 333 employees, as many as 123 from the program! ‘HRT is not a highway, but a public service …’
HRT left 333 employees by March 31 who signed a contractual termination of employment contract on the basis of the Decision on the Terms and Height of severance pay, which was brought in January by General Director Robert Šveband applied until the last day of March, the Hini confirmed with HRT. The most HRT employees left the business unit (PJ) program-as many as 123 of them, followed by PJ technology where the contractual termination of the employment contract with the payment of severance pay was accepted by 122 employees.
The production of Croatian Radio and Television has left 56 employees, nine of whom are from the Choir and Orchestra of HRT, with 26 HRTs from the shipping business, and six of them from the support of the management of them.
The decision on the conditions and height of the severance pay issued by Robert Šveb in early January, the conditions and height of severance pay for HRT workers were determined, in the event of « termination of employment contracts in the period until March 31, 2025, and in the goal of the HRT business optimization ».
As it stood out in this document, the maximum amount of severance pay could not have been more than 90,000 euros in gross II per worker, and workers who exercise the conditions for acquiring the right to the shipment were determined by the employer.
The criteria for this were that the worker did not need to be replaced by the employment of another worker outside HRT, the minimum internship on HRT of five years and that there was no less than 24 months to the age of 65.
The explanation of the decision also states that « in order to rationalize the cost of Croatian Radio and Television’s business, the Government of the Republic of Croatia provided the HRT financial resources in the state budget in the amount of EUR 28 million and decided to ensure severance pay for the conditions that fulfill the conditions ».
Unions and HND against consolidation plan
Three days before the expiration of the deadline for the concluded termination of the employment contract, with the offered severance pay in the HRT building at Prisavlje, the Unions of HRT and the HND Branches held a set of workers, saying that they opposed the implementation of the consolidation plan and that they were ready to fit into defense of a public service.
« We are here today to say goodbye to more than 300 people who have gone, not because they have where or have a better job, but because they can no longer endure this uncertainty, this grip, the absence of a vision of what a public media service should be, » said HRT journalist and president of the European Federation of Journalists (EFJ) and Croatian Union of Croatian (SNH).
She also referred to the plan of consolidation of the work and business of HRT, which adopted the Government last month and, among other things, includes the release of between 700 and 800 employees. At the time of the adoption of the consolidation plan, about 2,700 workers were employed at HRT, and by accepting a shipping media, a public media service has left 333 workers or about 12 percent of total employees so far.
« While we were warning that the consolidation plan was not going in the right direction, the Parliamentary Committee for the media gave a little more power to Robert Sveb to continue consolidation on the highway model. With respect for everyone who works on highways, we are not highways, we are creatives and we know the program that the audience loves, » said North.
She also invited the workers to stay together and continue to work constructively on the requirements that she will send to the HRT administration, the Government and Parliament. « We stay because we believe in a public media service. It does not hold us or pay us, nor are we safety that people from HRT are often labeled. Here are people who know what a public media service is for, unlike our management and administration, » North concluded.
