Hristo Ivanov: To get out of the protest-relevant regime and ask for power

« We want power. We have to get out of the protest-corrective regime. We do not want power for power and I think we have shown it, But we must understand that we cannot but focus on our political efforts to take power as a clear and categorical purpose. «

At the party members, Ivanov told that from the street « Yes, Bulgaria » cannot ensure a sustainable application of its priorities and « cannot guarantee that there will be no power in power. » However, he said that the party is not ready to run at the moment and the change in this fact will be a major task for the new leadership. What happens at the meeting of the Fourth National Conference of Yes, Bulgaria, which « Dnevnik » monitors live, read here:

« Yes, Bulgaria » chooses a new leadership, with changes in the statutes leaders may be several

Ivanov is of the opinion that the political formations that reconcile themselves with their role as opposition stops being political.

We have to outgrow the culture that we are a protest community that emotionally and seasonally mobilizes, stops something, then gets away and goes away. We can no longer afford to operate this way.

He added that the principles of responsibility and teamwork should be leading, and from the « political beyond », as Ivanov expressed itself, it was clear: « The parties are not internship programs, are not the labor office, they are not a pension fund. We cannot afford to maintain an organizational culture in which someone has expectations to receive a appointment, or what it is called lately – opportunities. «

The future of « Yes, Bulgaria »

The leader of « Yes, Bulgaria » said his resignation is the brightest balance of the past year. He added that his act was « an aware act of taking on political responsibility because there is something for ». According to him, over the past 10 months, in which he is not in operational policy, the party has not only moved forward, but also showed its potential and capacity, which is « focused on the team start of » Yes, Bulgaria « .

« Hristo Ivanov’s shoes are difficult to grow »: Candidates for « Yes, Bulgaria » want two leaders

Hristo Ivanov is the leader of the Party « Yes, Bulgaria » since its establishment in 2017. His term has expired at the end of January 2025. In the summer of 2024, he announced that he would not run for the leadership post again and obeyed his word. He is currently a candidate for a member of the National Party Council. In recent months, Ivanov has refused interviews and has no public appearances.

Ivanov added that the National Conference would decide how the party would continue in the future, but according to him « « Yes, Bulgaria » did not need any authoritative figures to set the tone « S

Movement will decide how to apply all the lessons learned and all the conclusions of the mistakes and weaknesses we have made.

As tasks to the party, he cited the attraction of expert and human potential, conversations with the individual sectors and individual communities, and the conversion to the middle class, which should be offered a new offer. « We need to be able to show the will for renovation, renewal and expansion, » he added.

Ivanov also emphasized the need for integration with DSB within « Democratic Bulgaria » and « Expanding the ideological unification, with new faces and partnerships ».

We are obliged by Democratic Bulgaria to broadcast a clear signal, to give hope to our voters, to the broader democratic community, to the Bulgarian middle class, that we can put a level of ambition, an ambition that corresponds to the seriousness of the moment.

« The only one sure is uncertainty »

Hristo Ivanov said that time is overwhelming not only for the party but also for the world, and he is currently entering a new era. According to him, two factors determine what is happening – the decay of the liberal international order and the huge technological change. According to him, « the new reality is indiscriminate and there is no going back. »

No one has a plan. No one has the resources to determine what is going to happen.

Ivanov is of the opinion that it is not clear whether NATO will be reaffirmed as an alliance with the restoration of its political burden and meaning, as it is not clear whether the European Union will be able to rebalance the system in another role of the United States in it. « In the foreseeable future, there is only one thing – elevated levels of insecurity, unpredictability, chaos, serious motivation to use force from a variety of players. « In his words, » violating any international norms from the UN Statute, of all contracts simply because you can or think you can, was legitimized and returned to the heart of Europe and the center of international relations. «

  • The war in Ukraine;
  • Trump’s requests for Canada and Greenland;
  • Commercial relations.

He assumed that all this could lead to injecting an incentive to aggression at all levels in society. « You understand that when someone turns the bat on the TV, many other people, big and small, they make their hands on them and they start to think: so I can. » Hristo Ivanov said the thesis that whatever happens, the « white countries » will come to the rescue is no longer valid.

The reality is that we are not calculated in our life model, the idea that ourselves, with its own efforts, without external help, will have to be guaranteed for our freedom, security, dignity and prosperity. Overcoming all this is the next huge political transition ahead.

Yes Bulgaria

Four national tasks

For the future and the upcoming turbulent times, Hristo Ivanov outlined four priorities for the country.

  • Guaranteeing freedom, legality and human dignity;
  • Setting security as a semantic center on all policies;
  • Modernization and guarantees for the competitiveness of the country and Bulgarian business;
  • Positioning Bulgaria in the core of the European Union.

« If we fail even to one of these tasks to solve, Bulgaria will be another country, much worse and this is a huge political task, » he added. According to him, a political entity will be needed to implement this goal, which can clearly formulate the problem and develop a political program with solutions by mobilizing staff and support for its implementation. Ivanov said this was the key task for « Yes, Bulgaria » and its new guidance. « There is no alternative to either left nor in the populist segment, as well as being called it. ”

In Yes, Bulgaria, in Democratic Bulgaria and in the right space we have the resource needed to assemble such a political entity.

Hristo Ivanov said that Bulgaria is currently conquered and its institutions are « plotted and turned into fatherly ». « Peevski, who we usually associate with this condition, is just the tip of the iceberg, » he added. « A peculiar peak of this turning of our republic into the father’s was the decision of the Constitutional Court on the latest amendments to the Constitution, » he added, saying that the court had neglected the great problem with justice in the state.
