How to solve Bolojan PNR’s milestone on special pensions

Marcel Boloş talks about the reform of the special pensions in the context in which the request for payment number 3 is partially suspended.

The deadline for resolving this milestone is 6 months from the date of official communication of the European Commission’s letter on the situation of this request.

If Romania does not solve this issue of equity of special pensions, it risks losing 231 million euros from the PNRR.

Boloș said on Tuesday that two variants are working at this time

« The problem that has now opened about special pensions does not concern military pensions. The subject is closed. Now we discuss the issue of equity of the pensions of magistrates and on this aspect we must find solutions within 6 months. (…) There are two variants, » said Boloș.

The first variant refers to a certain threshold of pensions over which a percentage of taxation will be required, and the second variant is the one proposed by the World Bank, which refers to the value in percentages of the gross income, as well as the contribution period taken into account.

« Now is 85% of this gross income and the contribution period taken into account is 5 years. In this context we discuss a percentage and a adjusted contribution period, but here we must finalize the simulations with the representatives of the European Commission, » said the Minister of Investments and European Projects.
