How to put our lives in danger. Theft from the tram line
Three young people were caught on Saturday morning by the Sibiu police while cutting a copper cable, intended for electric power supply to the Dumbrava Forest area, informs a press release from the County Police Inspectorate (IPJ) Sibiu.
The intervention took place around 3:30, on DJ 106 A, in an action organized by the Sibiu Police – Criminal Investigation Bureau. The three suspects, residing in the municipalities of Sibiu and Mediaș, would have cut about 240 meters of cable, which they intended to evade, transporting it into a car.
« At the same time, on the occasion of the control carried out on the car, the police identified a pliers and a pair of textile gloves, which the men would have used to commit the crime, » the IPJ Sibiu statement said.
According to the quoted source, in this case a criminal case was opened for committing the crime of robbery, the investigations being coordinated by the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Sibiu Court.
The tram that connects the Dumbrava and Rășinari forest is a historic tram line in Sibiu, used at the beginning of the last century. This is the only tram line in Sibiu, which survived the decommissioning from 1966-1972. In 2012, the tram was taken over by the Rășinari City Hall and re -erased in 2018 as a tourist line, being put into circulation several times a year when there are requests from the tourists groups, on special occasions or for carrying out artistic moments.
