How to Guard you from bad damage
« Every year we see serious injuries where gardening costs, among other things, fingers and toes. The accidents are often due to a moment’s inattention or poor postures that significantly increase the risk. Motorized garden tools are a major culprit, but also falls from ladders are one of the biggest causes of injuries, » says Lis Katz Krefeld, director of Person & Responsibility in Alm. Fire.
Although accidents with hedge trimmers and chainsaws fill well in the statistics, it is actually a fall from ladders that send most to the emergency room every year.
« We see people falling down again and again when they prune trees, paint house or cleanse gutters. A fall from even a few meters altitude can cause serious fractures and concussions. Make sure the ladder is on a stable surface so that it does not slip while the work is done, » says Lis Katz Krefeld.
Another cause of many fall accidents is algae coatings on wooden terraces and tiles. When wet, they can become very smooth and thereby there may be a greater risk of fall accidents.
« Check the terrace for algae before use. An unfortunate fall on a smooth surface can end up with broken bones and long rehabilitation courses, » says Lis Katz Krefeld.
