How the pension debate exposes division within NSC
Last week, on the evening of Good Friday, Pieter Omtzigt announced his departure from Politiek The Hague. His number two, Nicolien van Vroonhoven, was immediately put forward as a new leader. But what is NSC without the spiritual father? A question that immediately became current, because a day after Van Vroonhoven received the chairman’s hammer, there was a debate about pensions, an important topic for NSC.
In that debate, NSC Member of Parliament Agnes Joseph Hard collided with her party colleague, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Eddy Van Hijum. The unity within NSC was tested immediately, and everyone within the party saw that it was a disastrous debate.
In these people in The Hague you can hear from Christiaan Pelgrim and Lamyae Aharouay about that collision, the pension debate and about the future of NSC without Pieter Omtzigt.
