How the ministries are divided – Diepresse.com

Six departments occupy SPÖ and ÖVP each, two go to the Neos. The concrete line -up is only fixed in the party committees.

The future ÖVP-SPÖ-NEOS federal government will consist of a total of 14 ministers and ministers and seven state secretariats. Six departments occupy SPÖ and ÖVP each, two go to the Neos. Three State Secretaries are loaded by the ÖVP, three by the SPÖ. The NEOS receive a secretariat. The specific Personalia will only be lashed in the party committees on Friday (SPÖ and ÖVP) and at the NEOS general meeting on Sunday.

Chancellor and five departments to ÖVP

In addition to the Federal Chancellery, for the ÖVP boss Christian Stocker is set, according to the government program, another five departments go to the ÖVP: As before, the People's Party will hold the Interior Ministry, the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Economic Affairs. Agende energy and tourism are also located in the latter. The Department of Land and Forestry also remains in the hands of the ÖVP. What is striking is that the climate and environmental protection agents hike to this department that under the turquoise-green government at the Green Infrastructure Minister Leonore Gewessler were located. The topics of « regions » and « water management » are also bundled in the Ministry of Agriculture. In addition, the ÖVP receives a ministry for family, youth and integration located in the Chancellery.

For this purpose, the ÖVP receives a state secretariat in the Federal Chancellery (initially without its own area of responsibility), another in the (Red) Ministry of Finance. An ÖVP State Secretary is also planned in the Ministry of Economic Affairs. The new government therefore uses the unusually high number of state secretariats on the one hand as support in its own departments, but on the other hand, but also in a control function in ministries that are managed by another party.

Babler Vice Chancellor

The SPÖ also comes to six ministries. Party leader Andreas Babler will receive the Vice Chancellor's post. So far, it has not yet been communicated which agendas the party leader receives. It would be suitable for that of the planned Federal Ministry of Living, Art, Culture, Media and Sport. In addition to this, social democracy also receives the finance department, as well as the Ministry of Justice, a Ministry of Women, Science and Research as well as a department for traffic, innovation and technology. The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health and Health will also go to the SPÖ, which, in addition to the care located there, will also have the workers in the future.

In addition, there is a red State Secretariat in the Ministry of Living, Art, Culture, Media and Sport (according to Babler also responsible for government coordination), another in the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, as well as one in the Interior Ministry led by the ÖVP (responsible for intelligence services).

For the smaller coalition partner Neos, the Foreign and Education Ministry have two departments. The liberals receive a State Secretariat in the Federal Ministry of European and International Affairs.

« Lex Gewessler »: Program must be represented together

The government program also stipulated that this was to be represented together – both in the federal government, in parliament « and as Austrian positioning in the organs of the European Union ». This can also be interpreted as a teaching from the turquoise-green government, since the previous Minister of Climate Protection Leonore Gewessler (Greens) voted in June 2024 against the will of the coalition partner ÖVP in the Council of the EU countries for the acceptance of the Renaturation Act and thus helped this application to be a short majority. « Important decisions of the coalition partners are made together and represented together in public, » says the ÖVP-SPÖ-NEO program. « The important positions represented in the Council of the European Union and the European Council will be coordinated in advance among the coalition partners. »

Personalia will only be officially fixed on Friday and Sunday

Anyone who will actually become part of the next government has not yet been officially announced on Thursday. This should then happen according to the party committees of the ÖVP and SPÖ, each day on Friday morning. The NEOS must get the coalition participation in a general meeting on Sunday.

Especially within the SPÖ, there may have been a need for discussion regarding the Personia until the end. For example, differences between SPÖ boss Andreas Babler and Vienna's mayor penetrated Michael Ludwig through in terms of the occupation in particular of the Ministry of Finance. The Viennese Council of Finance, Peter Hanke (SPÖ), which was now traded for this position, is now more likely to be the head of department in the Ministry of Infrastructure. He was asked and he would do it too, said a spokesman on Thursday on request – subject to the committees. For the position in the Ministry of Finance, the former ORF boss Alexander Wrabetz and Salzburg Member of the National Councilor Michaela Schmidt were previously mentioned as potential candidates.

ÖVP Minister remain partly, outdoor department to Meinl-Reisinger

There were no such public debates at the ÖVP. There, Gerhard Karner (inside), Klaudia Tanner (defense) and Norbert Tettschnig (agriculture) are likely to keep their posts. After the meetings on Friday, clarity should be over the other occupations.

The government team should already be fixed at the NEOS. MP Josef Schellhorn confirmed on Wednesday on ORF that he should become State Secretary for Deregulation (in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs). It is therefore also fixed that the Vienna Council of Education Christoph Wegenwreuzen becomes Minister of Education. Party leader Beate Meinl-Reisinger Will probably be a foreign minister. (APA)
