How many Ukrainian biathletes have earned in the 2024/25 season: prizes, leaders and records | Biathlon

This is where the pre-Olympic season-2024/25 ended, and therefore the athletes finally got time and be able to rest and take a breath, and coaches-to work on mistakes and make a plan for preparation for the Olympic Games 2026.

Also, the finish of the season is a traditional time to summarize – and it is not just about sports results.

« Champion » I decided to calculate how many Ukrainian biathletes managed to earn prizes over the past campaign in the World Cup and Planetary Championship.

In the 2024/25 season, the total prize fund of the Cup and the World Cup amounted to 9 366,700 euros. In personal races, the prizes were paid for places in the TOP-30, and the relay races had to get up to the eight of the best. The biathletes did not even receive a symbolic amount than the worse performance.

However, it was possible to earn not only for successful performances in specific races. The owners of yellow and red beans for each start in the status of the leader of the standings received 1000 euros of bonus. Although we did not see the Ukrainians in these colors during the season, our representative Vitaliy Mandzin, who three times in the blue Bib of the U-23 youth standings, was also a little bonus. Each of the three such races brought him an additional 500 euros.

House and Mandzin – On Fire

The highest amount of the prizes from the captain of the national team of Ukraine Dmitry Podruchny, who completed the season in 19th place in the overall standings. In total, a 33-year-old Ternopil won € 50 850.

Vitaliy Mandzin in his debut season at an adult level replenished his balance for € 35 150. The most, namely € 8000, yesterday’s junior brought a short individual race at the starting stage in the Finnish Koniolekht, where he took the 4th place for himself.

Anton Dudchenko, who has € 23 950 prizes, can also boast a good amount. Much more modest achievements in Artem Tishchenko (€ 4000), Taras Lesyuk (€ 3500) and Bohdan Tsymbala (€ 1000). Moreover, Tishchenko received a prize for only one race-a male relay in Novo-Mesto, where with Mandzin, Dudchenko and Handmade sensationally became a bronze medalist.

We will add that Tishchenko, Lesyuk and cymbal were spent the overwhelming number of races at the « second » IBU Cup, where the prizes are smaller than in the World Cup, but it is easier to run there to the prize area. So they were still able to improve their financial condition.

At the same time, it is important to understand that all prize biathletes pay taxes – in accordance with the legislation of the country in which competitions are held. The largest taxes in Norway and Switzerland, relatively small – in the Czech Republic. In addition, athletes usually share prizes with their coaches and services.

Solid Jim, Dmitrenko’s Record and Gorodna

Women have traditionally made the largest amount of Julia Jim-€ 47,500. It is very good, however, given the gold in Sochi-2014, 34-year-old Kyivka had more and more, so money in her case is definitely not the main motivation to continue the performances.

Record prizes at the World Cup with Christina Dmitrenko and Elena Gorodna – € 21,000 and € 7200, respectively. Quite small financial achievements in experienced Irina Petrenko (€ 3000), Anastasia Merkushina (€ 1500) and Anna Krivonos (€ 1000). However, as in the case of men, Petrenko, Merkushina and Krivonos also had additional prizes on the IBU Cup.

It should be noted that the financial situation of Ukrainian biathletes is based not only on the prize. All of them also receive salaries from the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, some have sponsorship contracts, so the total amount can be quite decent against the background of the income of the average Ukrainian. However, these amounts do not look big, especially when comparing them with salaries in football.

How are the world stars?

The owner of a large crystal globus in men stured the leeroid in the racing won the total € 263 050, and thanks to the victory in the overall standings (+€ 40,000) and two small crystal gloves (+€ 24,000) in individual races and pursuing.

Interestingly, another star Norwegian Johannes because in his last season on the World Cup earned a little more in his personal races – € 265500. First of all, this is due to the fact that he has made better at the World Cup, which was not taken into account for the overall standings of the World Cup. However, if you add bonuses in the form of € 32,000 for the total 2 place in the total standings and € 12,000 for a small crystal globe in sprint, then the total amount is € 309 500.

However, the total amount of Johannes because it is really a little bigger, because he, like Lebraid, put on a racing yellow and red beards many times.

The best athlete of the season in the women’s biathlon Francis won in races € 279350. In addition, it received € 40000 for a large crystal globe and € 12,000 for two small globes. The total € 343350 (not including bonuses for beards) – the record of the season for one biathlete, regardless of gender.

For Frenchwives, Lu Jeanmon Fall in the last race of the season cost not only a prestigious trophy, but also 13,000 euros of prizes. For 3rd place in the last race, she received € 10,000 instead of 15,000, which is paid by the winners, and the second place in the overall standings gave it € 32,000 euros. With all that it can be satisfied with itself, because € 331400 is an impressive amount. We hope that this money will be able to improve the mood after a annoying fiasco.

Olympiad is a powerful financial motivator

Ukrainian biathletes will be able to significantly improve their financial condition in February next year, because its main start will not be the World Cup, but the World Winter Olympiad-2026. For a gold medal at this year’s summer games, 2024, Ukraine paid $ 125,000 athletes, $ 80,000 for silver, and $ 55,000 for bronze.

But this will still be a task with an asterisk, given that in the last three seasons on the World Cup, Ukrainians have only won one award, and from the previous two Olympiads, our biathlonists returned with empty hands.
