Europe has the hottest year of measuring history behind and is the continent that heats up the fastest worldwide. How much necessary climate change adjustment happens in Austria?

Copernicus’ climate status report, the European climate change service, is anything but a rosy future scenario: In the future, more heat waves, droughts and floods will be harmful, increasingly harmful by man -made climate change, humans and business in Europe.

« Austria is one of the countries that started early on to deal with the consequences of climate change, » says Matthias Auer, head of the « press » climate team, « but a lot of what happens in Austria is a bit dismembered. » In this episode, he explains how Europe should adapt to climate change in the long term, which measures should be taken in particular in Austria, what the climate protection law has to do with it and how much the adaptation should cost.
