How global injustice increases the wave of refugees
The author is Prof. Dr.-Ing. IR and was a member of the Chamber (CSV) from 2004 to 2018.
The preamble of the 2030 agenda underlines: « Without peace, there can be no sustainable development and no peace without sustainable development ».
The agenda adopted by the global community in 2015 includes 17 global sustainability goals that stand for social, economic and sustainable development. It should show the way by means of which a decent life for every single citizen is to be made possible, but without damaging the natural livelihood of the planet.
How the increase in sea levels threatens humanity
In view of the fact that more than two billion people do not live with a dignified life because they lack the necessary foods and they do not have sufficient school education, they had agreed to eliminate these grievances worldwide by 2030.
« What pious wish! » You want to call. The world is in a upheaval process in 2025, the previous customs are no longer respected. There is the politician of the powerful.
If the « good -w downs » do not appear more determined, then the 17 goals for sustainable development sink in forgetting. Due to the high expenses for combating corona apandemia and the huge expenses for armament, fewer and fewer financial means are available for development cooperation.
In 2024, 123 million people worldwide were fleeing
A look back at 2024 shows the full extent – the many crises led to flight and displacement. The war in Ukraine has fled over ten million people. In the Gaza Strip and in Syria, the acts of violence, despite the peace appeal, continue unhindered. In the interior of Africa, the stream of the inland refugees does not tear off.
A look back at 2024 shows the full extent – the many crises led to flight and displacement.
According to the United Nations Refugee Agency, 123 million people were fleeing the violent conflicts and human rights violations last year, before the extreme poverty and hunger as well as the lack of perspective and the consequences of climate change.
The gap between the rich is constantly expanding
At the beginning of 2025, the development organization Oxfam reported on the occasion of the World Economic Forum in Davos that the billionaires’ assets are growing faster. The number has increased to 2,769. At the same time, 3.6 billion people live among the expanded poverty limit of $ 6.85 daily. Society drifts apart. On closer inspection of the uncertain world situation, you can see that only applies: « Wealth goes hand in hand with political power. »
How the EU can become competitive again
As a result of this inequality, more and more people in developing countries are leaving their homeland and are becoming inland refugees, etc. in the Sahara room or to refugees who see their hope of a better life in flight north.
It is a fact: 1.4 billion people live in Africa, more than a billion of them south of the Sahara, and about 70 percent of them are younger than 30 years. Hundreds of million still live in the large families who rely on the barren agriculture. Meanwhile, the land area available for agriculture is steadily reduced by climate change. It is exactly the young people living here who, due to the lack of perspective, go on a better life.

USAIS-AUS causes shock in African countries
The recent announcement by the American government to stop the programs of the aid organization USAID with immediate effect shocked people in many African countries.
The United States donated a total of $ 42 billion in 2024 worldwide-millions of people in need of help in Africa are affected by this inhuman act. Many projects that have so far been successfully implemented by the local NGOs in the health sector, drinking water supply and in the educational programs are now falling by the wayside.
According to the UN report ‘Food Security and Nutrition in the World 2024’, 757 million people worldwide in 2023.
The high tariffs announced on April 3 by the US President Donald Trump will turn world trade upside down and the often feared trade war threatens to break out. This questionable act provides the departure from the previous one global trade order and will inevitably slow down the necessary growth – but above all the life of people in developing countries are dramatically worsened.
The abyss of inequality continues to tear open
According to the UN report « Food Security and Nutrition in the World 2024 », 757 million people in 2023 suffered from hunger in 2023-on average this is every eleventh person. The non -ending conflicts will increase hunger and misery and this causes the escape of millions of people in developing countries. In addition, the precarious water supply and the persistent soil erosion cause the deterioration of soil fertility.
How the desert spread endangers the global nutritional situation
In addition, according to the UN report published in July 2024, the UN report on nutritional security is found that hardly any progress in trying to feed all people sufficiently. Qu Dongyu, General Director of FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations) has formulated it as follows: « The transformation of agricultural food systems is more important than ever and, the faster the necessary change is initiated, the more resistant and sustainable the nutritional situation becomes. »
The rich industrialized countries and some emerging countries have expanded their economic policy dominance on the train of globalization by enforcing unfair trade agreements compared to many weaker states in Africa, Asia and Latin America – with the aim of exploiting their important raw materials. Only a very small part of the profits generated from dismantling and trading with these raw materials are available to the local population. The rich north « crushes » with its economic and political power in the global south.
At the moment we are miles away from a just world.
Knowing that the richest percent of the world population 38 percent of global assets and the poorest half of the world’s population have only two percent, must be the honest people. These facts are the causes of the impairment and the lack of opportunities for hundreds of millions of young people « down there » – they « drive to flight ».
Without a victory against poverty there is no peace in the world
The vision of a just world includes the establishment of basic democratic rules and the global attention of human rights, securing peace, overcoming poverty, the protection of the environment and securing social justice. At the moment, however, we are miles away from this just world.
How the costs of climate change put a strain on the global economy
Albert Einstein’s statement may be considered a food for thought: « There are no great discoveries and progress as long as there is still an unfortunate child on earth. » Based on this statement, one should not lose confidence and continue to occur with all strength for the protection and support of the « humiliated people ».
