How Felix Siefritz thinks about faith, love and celibacy
He is a priest – and speaks in a new episode of the Podcasts « Augsburg, my city » Open about topics that move him: Felix Siefritz calls the celibacy « the challenge of my life ». He describes the abuse scandals in the church as « horrible ». And about his faith he says: « God makes me happy ».
Siefritz is a pastor for the almost 10,000 Catholics of his parish community of St. Georg/St. Maximilian/st. Simpert. He grew up in the Unterallgäu, his parents brought him up Christian – « without compulsion, without pressure ». In the podcast he says how his love for Jesus grew, why he decided on the profession of priest and in what moments he get doubles.

The 39-year-old also talks about celibacy and lovesick: Siefritz once fell in love with a woman and yet decided on priesthood. In conversation with Axel Hechelmann, he describes how difficult it was and how he managed to overcome the pain.

In conversation, however, it is also about a dark chapter in history: the abuse crisis of the Catholic Church. Siefritz says: « As a church, you can only sink the head ashamed and ask for forgiveness. »
