How ELAS dislodged a far -right network

« We have an ideological basis that keeps us united, we believe in blood. After a lot of time of thinking I ended up believing in the idea of blood and earth. The idea it requires its holders to be a link between the dead and the unborn souls of our nation. What we have achieved after 2019 is to create a good « name » in the city. There is a need to expand into a spectrum that will cover all the nationalists of Thessaloniki at a fight. We will fight all those who ridicule us and consider us graphic. We do not have common sense. For us, « extreme » is a natural need. «

In these statements, an active member of the far-right nationalist youth of Thessaloniki (Defend Salonica) was considered a descendant of the Golden Dawn and is estimated to have about 50-60 members. This is the organization that was targeted by Thessaloniki Security, which arrested 28 members – of which 15 minors – for a series of offenses such as beatings of immigrants, fanatic violence (allegedly linked to a Thessaloniki group), robberies, robberies, etc.

Among other things, they are involved in two robberies at the expense of anarchists, three credit card thefts used and computer fraud. In addition, the case file also includes charges of « recruiting » minors.

The organization allegedly had distinct roles with a leadership team that gave approvals for attacks, target surveillance and internet searches. Its action, as it emerged from the removal of communications confidentiality, was coordinated with the use of an online communications platform.

The investigation by the Thessaloniki Police Services began in September 2024, following the finding that members of this far -right organization created gangs and proceeded with road robberies and thefts against unsuspecting citizens to strengthen its « fund » and enlargement. With this money they bought bats, helmets, pyrotechnics, etc.

Members of the Nationalist Youth of Thessaloniki (ENEH) are alleged, according to ELAS, to play a role in attacks in the period 2021-2022 fascist groups in schools in western Thessaloniki, with foreign students’ goals. According to ELAS documents, members of the ENEH were clashing and disasters in school complexes, Stavroupoli, Evosmos (where they were photographed in the courtyard of school wearing hoods) and elsewhere. Additional members of the organization published photos on social media, with nationalist banners.

At the same time, they were flying tricks with nationalist content. « In 10 years we will be a minority in our own homeland. Wake up, ”wrote one of them.

In May 2022 members of the Thessaloniki Nationalist Youth attempted to intimidate doctors at Papageorgiou Hospital, as the Thessaloniki Hospital Doctors (ENIT) had reported, trying to put responsibility for the suffering of patients.

According to ELAS, there have been constituted movements from far -right structures in Thessaloniki lately to recruit minors and expanding the action both within the city and other parts of northern Greece. However, the Minister of Citizen Protection, Michalis Chrysochoidis, clarified yesterday that « these phenomena do not constitute a far -right revival in northern Greece », explaining that the team had no purely political characteristics, as their involvement was mainly involved.
