Villas and lands in the country and abroad, jewelry, paintings, luxury watches, bank or outside bank accounts, high revenues from consulting activities can be found in the statements of wealth submitted by the 11 candidates for the presidential elections in May.

Unlike previous elections, independent candidates ‘lead’ in front of ‘party’ in terms of assets.

Thus, in terms of properties highlights the Romanian-American businessman John-Ion Banu-Muscel with villas and apartments in Romania and the United States, 74 hectares of land in the country, but also a farm in America, on an area of ​​135 hectares.

He is followed by Victor Ponta – three apartments in Bucharest, Istanbul and the United Arab Emirates and Daniel Funeriu – two apartments in Romania, a house in Germany and 50 hectares in Timiș.

When it comes to income, all the independents are located in the top, followed by the candidates supported by the ‘small’ parties: John-Ion Banu-Muscel-over $ 300,000, Daniel Funeriu-over 150,000 euros (mainly from consulting activities), Cristian Terheș-99,000 euros, Lavinia Șandru-over 300,000 lei (more than the author).

Instead, the first ranked in polls are not so good for wealth.

Crin Antonescu has no income, his wife with numerous properties and hundreds of thousands of euros in accounts. Nicușor Dan is renting, but he has a valuable land at Predeal. George Simion has no properties and is based on the parliamentary salary and the gifts received at the baptism of the child, while Elena Lasconi has loans to be returned to banks.

We present the assets of the 11 candidates in the presidential elections in May, in the order presented from the website of the Central Electoral Bureau:

Nicușor Dan

The current general mayor of the capital owns a land of 7,460 sqm in Predeal, bought in 2007, but lives in Bucharest. He also owns an old car from 1986, the Citroen brand, a bank account with 439,000 lei and granted a person a loan of 20,000 euros.

Instead, Nicușor Dan contracted three bank loans in a total amount of 152,000 euros.

In the declaration of wealth, he also mentioned donations received from dozens of people to support the election campaign, in a total amount of about 1.2 million lei, to which are added 659,000 lei received from the Permanent Electoral Authority, representing the reimbursement of the expenses incurred in the campaign for the local elections of 2024.

In terms of income, Nicușor Dan passed the income received last year for the position of mayor of the Capital – 296,000 lei.

Crin Antonescu

The candidate of the Romania before (PSD – PNL – UDMR) passed in the declaration of wealth two apartments in Bucharest (96 sqm and 205 sqm) and a parking place (31 sqm), two other houses in Prahova county (84 sqm and 43 sqm), to which are added three lands in Prahova county (3,942 sqm, 250 sqm), Being wife, Adina Vălean, or held together.

Victor Ponta

Former prime minister and leader of the PSD, Victor Ponta is applying for the presidential elections in the position of independent. He owns an apartment in Bucharest (95 sqm), an apartment bought in 2021 in Istanbul – Turkey (200 sqm) and another purchased in 2022 in the United Arab Emirates (82 sqm), a Smart brand car, but also watches worth 20,000 euros acquired between 2023 – 2024.

Ponta has several bank accounts, with about 130,000 euros and granted the PSD Dâmbovița organization a loan of 190,000 lei (38,000 euros).

In terms of revenues, he passed a salary of 240,000 lei collected from the Chamber of Commerce (without mentioning the function he had) and a salary of 19,295 lei, without saying the entity from which he received this money, most likely from the consultancy, he holding the company VP Projects Advisers SRL (according to the statement).

Elena Lasconi

In the declaration of wealth Elena Lasconi mentioned seven lands (two agricultural – 57,500 sqm, a forest land – 2,500 sqm, three urban lands – 6,700 sqm and an extra -urban land of 500 sqm), three apartments (65 sqm, 70 sqm, 58 sqm), a dwelling house of 98 sqm, but also an Opel brand manufactured in 2007.

Lasconi has to return two bank loans of over 388,000 lei.

In terms of revenues, Elena Lasconi specified the salary collected as mayor of Câmpulung – 141,000 lei, and the husband won in the last fiscal year 82,000 lei, being a counselor at the Chamber of Deputies.

Cristian Terheș

Currently MEP, Cristian Terheș mentioned in the declaration of wealth five urban lands located in Sălaj and Bihor counties, three apartments (53 sqm, 81 sqm and 53 sqm), two cars (Toyota Camry and Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross), six bank accounts (approximately 560,000 lei and 50,000 euros), being opened in banks in the US state of California.

Lavinia Șandru

Last year, he opened a bank account where he has 250,000 lei. He received from the Chamber of Deputies a salary of almost 137,000 lei, while the wife has so far benefited from an allowance for raising the child in the amount of 15,000 lei, and previously received a salary of 8,000 lei from the Ministry of Education.

John-Ion Banu-Muscel

Banu-Muscel presents himself as a Romanian-American businessman and candidates independently for the presidential elections. According to the declaration of wealth, it owns an apartment in Bucharest (80 sqm) and in Florida – USA (110 sqm), a house of 380 square meters in the city of McCormick from the American state of South Carolina and another 410 sqm house in Florida, to which are added four lands: 15 hectares Intravilan – Giurgiu county, 9 hectares of Argeș, a 9 -hectare.
