Housefills in Midgard
The Cultural Center Miðgarður in Skagafjörður was full out of the door in the evening of the first summer when a memorial concert about Stefán R. Gíslason, choirmaster and organist, took place. The concert was taken advantage of the Sæluvika Skagfirðinga which starts formally this weekend.
Stefán fell from the fall of 2023, but he directed the Karla Choir Heimi for decades, as well as managing the church choir of Glaumbæjar Priesthood, Álftagerðisbrothers and other singing groups. Stefán had turned 70 last fall and then a memorial fund was established. All proceeds from the concert will go to the fund, which strengthens promising people to study organ playing and choir management.
Stefán R. Gíslason was a long time conductor of the male choir Heimis and the Álftagerðisbrödra, but he fell from the fall of 2023.
Great evening and good spirit
Gísli Gunnarsson, consecrated bishop of Holar and fv. A priest in Glaumbær, initiated the establishment of the Memorial Fund and prepared the concert in Midgard and others. He had a good and successful with Stefán for a long time.

Music performed the male choir Heimir, Álftagerðisbrödur and their descendants, the church choir of Glaumbæjar Priesthood and Harmonikutrio, which Heimis conducted today, Jón Thorsteinn Reynisson. With him, Isaac Agnarsson and Guðmundur Smári Guðmundsson played. Three Alftagerði brothers are still singing, they Óskar, Peter and Gísli Pétursson. With them, Gisla’s son sang, Agnar, and his two sons, Joel and Isaac. The seventh singer in the Alftagerðisband was then Atli Gunnar Arnórsson, son -in -law Gísla.
