Hour here, hour round / day

Latvia is among those more than 70 countries around the world, where people have to put up with the transition to another time zone twice a year (spring and autumn) – we lose the hour in the spring, recovering in the autumn. We, as elsewhere in Europe, have been called « Summer Time », but more accurately the nature of this manipulation is characterized by the term « daylight saving time » used in the United States (Daylight Saving Time). Namely, it is not rational that in the early mornings, when the sun is already on a piece, people are still enjoying sleep, but on the dark evenings spend their energy on dwelling lighting.

However, this was more than a hundred years ago, when several European countries introduced this order during the First World War, trying to increase energy resources. Both production cycles and people habits have changed significantly over the century, according to Livescience.com. But in authoritative scientific magazines, hundreds of articles have been published on how negative the transition to summer and then back to winter time is influenced by individual groups of society. Admittedly, there is no shortage of opposite views, mostly business -related professionals who claim that summer time is useful, but their invoked statistics do not seem really convincing, says Business Insider.

Much depends on the latitudes of one or another country. For example, in Latvia, watches can be amended as you want, but around the summer solstice, the sun will also jump before people waking up and the evenings will be light for a long time. But at the end of autumn and winter … Well, what’s the difference, or is it some light from tens of morning to two in the afternoon or from nine to one? There is no point in talking about the areas of Northern Europe around or behind the Polar circle. Just like countries that are geographically closer to the equator – there is no transition to summer time, writes BBC Science Focus.

It once gave the average latitudes to industrialized countries, but whether or not this time alteration is justified at the moment, there is no real clarity.
