Horror at the DPS in Owczary near Krakow. The resident killed with a spoon
A seemingly quiet night in DPS turned into a drama. Shortly after midnight, the employees of the facility discovered the corpse of a 48-year-old resident in one of the rooms. They immediately notified the police. Prosecutor's offices, who had no doubt – was not ordinary death. Initial examination indicated the participation of third parties. A 32-year-old roommate of the victim was detained.

Investigators studied various hypotheses from the beginning. Now, however, the prosecutor's office confirms that the man's death was the result of a brutal attack. According to Oliwia Bożek-Michalec, a spokeswoman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Krakow, the autopsy showed that the victim had died of bleeding and brain damage caused by hammering the tablespoon into the right eye socket.
– The perpetrator's motives remain unknown. At this moment, the suspect is interrogated and will be subject to psychiatric examinations. Soon the prosecutor's office will submit a request to the court for his detention on remand – said a spokeswoman for the prosecutor's office in an interview with « Głos24 ».

The tragedy in DPS raises serious questions about safety in this type of institutions. The center in Owczary is an institution intended for chronically ill people who require 24 -hour care. After what happened, the prosecutor's office announced that he would examine whether all procedures related to the supervision of the residents were observed in the facility.
– This thread will definitely be studied. It is not yet known whether as part of the ongoing investigation or in separate proceedings – added a spokeswoman for the prosecutor's office.
DPS in Owczary. The palace once belonged to the prime minister
The Nursing Home in Owczary has been operating since 1962 and is located in a historic manor house, surrounded by a picturesque park. In the past it was the property of Eugeniusz Kwiatkowski, deputy prime minister of the Second Polish Republic.
The facility is intended for 99 chronic mentally ill people. The residents have access to occupational therapy, rehabilitation and psychological support.
