Because the island that fell on our heroes is not an ordinary island. He is an entity for himself. The new residents of this island of long and dark history will soon meet a smoke monster, whispers from the forest some honestly will drive crazy, people will soon start to disappear and die, and all in the first season culminates when they discover a mysterious door in the forest leading to one of the secrets of the island. She began as a drama about survival after a plane crash and ended up as a metaphysical study of fate, faith, identity and death – all in the midst of a rainforest that breathes as a living entity. Through those six seasons, Lost has become more than a TV series. He became a global phenomenon.

There was no series at the time that could in the same way pull the viewer into a world where nothing is safe, where natural laws bend, and the characters develop a nonlinear path, through memories, future and, in the end, alternative reality.

The series almost didn’t have to be. Or it should have looked different. ABC ordered Jeffrey Lieber in 2003. He delivered to them. Realistic series, without supernatural elements, without mythology, without science fiction. Just ordinary people on a regular island with a heavy fate … But ABC was not satisfied, that was not what they wanted. The series includes JJ Abrams and Damon Lindelof and « Nowhere », as Lieber’s work was called, now he has become something new, has become « Lost ».

Numerous characters, such as Jack Shephard, John Locke, James « Sawyer » Ford, Hurley and Desmond Hume …, have gained depth and emotional weight we usually do not see in projects with such a big ensemble. Their personal stories, told through retrospective and symbolism are the foundation on which a wider narrative of redemption, destiny, faith and free will was built. Not to just turn out to praise the series, she has her problems.

For the author of these lines, everyone is forgiven. But not everyone agrees with it … Some things that seemed extremely important, are just suddenly crossed. We never received answers to numerous questions. The characters with biblical names, references to quantum physics and metaphysical balance of good and evil seemed to be leading somewhere, but often these elements remained at the level of surface mythology. It is as if the authors at one point lost control of their work, as if they themselves were no longer sure what the age they were in, in which reality, where they were and what they were doing to which of the characters, whether they were alive, dead, somewhere in between, did they at all exist the island …
