Honey Merchants launched more than three tons of allegedly fake honey to the market

According to the service, laboratory studies conducted in the German laboratory showed that honey marked in Lithuania, marked as « EU and non -EU origin » and « non -EU origin » honey, was detected by foreign sugar.

As a result, the SFVS has opened a case of potential food forgery against the company and recorded labeling violations due to possible misleading of consumers.

« This is a very unfair behavior towards the consumer, as consumers expected honey, but instead, we found foreign sugar in the content of this manufacturer. This is a model of activity that attempts to provide supposedly authentic honey, not only rough consumer fraud, but also economic and moral damage to Lithuanian beekeepers. Head of SFVS Audronė Mikalauskienė.

Once the infringement was found, the Office has indicated to the company that the suspended supply of honey is not supplied and inform the economic operators for which these products have been submitted.

The entities who have received information must, in turn, terminate the sale of the honey parties immediately and must inform the recipients and consumers.

The study continues.
