After the examination, doctors quickly diagnosed the cause of health problems. It turned out that the girl was infected with the E. coli bacterium, which led to serious complications, including kidney damage. The child required dialysis and blood transfusion four times. Currently, he must take folic acid every day and remain under constant nephrological control up to age.
The girl’s mother, in an interview with the British media, described the dramatic moments when she saw her daughter connected to the medical apparatus. « It was the most difficult and the most terrible moment in my life, » she confessed to British journalists.
The girl’s parents decided to hire a law firm to examine the circumstances of infection and the possible responsibility of the hotel owners in which they stayed. They want to find out if it was possible to prevent the tragedy and who is responsible for exposing their child to danger.
What is the E. Cola bacterium and what are its symptoms?
E. coli bacteria (Escherichia coli) is a microorganism that naturally occurs in the organisms of people and animals. Some strains of this bacteria, however, are extremely dangerous and can lead to serious diseases, such as: travelers diarrhea, hemorrhagic colloquet inflammation, thrombocytopotopitis, pneumonia or urinary tract infection.
The bacterium can be infected by consuming contaminated water or food, as well as in contact with infected people. Incorrect hygiene, especially around the perineum, can cause the bacteria to transfer to the urinary tract.

Hygiene is a key element in the prevention of E. coli infections. To minimize the risk, you should: wash your hands thoroughly before meals, after using the toilet. Consume only boiled water, especially in countries with increased sanitary and epidemiological risk, avoid consuming raw or undercoat products such as meat or eggs. Wash fruit and vegetables before eating.
