Prime Minister Edi Rama said from the meeting in Athens with Albanian compatriots, that this is a historic moment for Albania regarding the issue of European Union integration, as our stars and EU stars have already lined up in a straight line and the EU will make Albania part of its own.

“For Albania the same window has been opened as you and the Albanians of Europe, we have been given the opportunity to see the last door to enter the EU. For circumstances our stars and Europe are lined up in a straight line, as we want to enter the EU, so the EU will make us part. We have a time limit we have agreed with them to close the negotiation process within 2027.

It is the fastest deadline given to any country in the history of negotiations, not just because we have done their duties well, they want to have Albania within themselves, but it is a moment that will not be there for ever and we have to use it now. Things can change, but we have to use it, ”Rama said.

The prime minister said that over the years, Albania has fulfilled its obligations, but it was Europe that has « twisted the tail ».

“We have been here when we did our duties very well and they trembled our tail. Before things change and they shook our tail again, we must go inside. And when the door closes and starts history from scratch, we are members with the same rights in the EU and sit side by side with Greece as two equal places not only with custom but also by law, not only with emotion but also with a seal. Both we and Greece are together with the yellow stars of the EU flag. This is the historical moment, it is the second raising of the flag of Albania ”, Rama claimed.

“The second raising of the flag of Albania, the first rise was made in 1912, but in all these years of internal sovereignty we did not have external sovereignty, in the sense that we were seen and treated as inferior, is a gentle word. Even because of our reason. Even because we did hard things. Today, by raising the Albanian flag there (EU) we give the dimension of freedom by permanently guaranteeing the individual freedoms of every Albanian in the European space and within their own country, of equality before the law, of every Albanian and of definitely guaranteed coexistence standards ”, the prime minister said.

The prime minister said that the history of Albania's efforts in the EU integration process has been similar to that of Albanian integration into Greece over the years, often coping with prejudice.

“You started everything out of nothing by coping with great prejudices, situations that would bring down an elephant, but not the Albanian. The Albanian does not fall! Especially when there are no friends and cousins ​​around, it becomes stronger. Here, you have had nothing but hands, heart, mind and children to have to grow up.

Today, I can say that it has been Albania's journey to Europe, with foreigners in relation to prejudice, just as they have prejudiced a son or a daughter, a mother or father, a young man have prejudiced Albania, just as they have humiliated an Albanian family here at the time, ”Rama said.

“But in the case of Albania the humiliation is to discuss whether more from foreigners, or from within, From those who had to represent Albania with dignity ”, said Rama.
