Hilmar honored for the lifetime
Hilmar Snorrason, who led the Seamen’s Accident Protection School for over 30 years, was today honored for his life work at the National Assembly of the Landsbjörg Accident Protection Association, which was set today in Selfoss.
Borghildur Fjóla Kristjánsdóttir, chairman of Landsbjörg, handed over a part of Hilmari part of the steering wheel of Sæbjargar, a school ship, and the steering wheel had been installed on a special copper plate.
Then Hilmar received a certificate of recognition, and stands on the following text:
« Here is part of the steering wheel of Sæbjargar, the school vessel of the Landsbjörg Accident Protection Company. There was a bridge and managed the safety of seafarers, Hilmar Snorrason. Few have had as much influence in reducing serious accidents and fatalities at sea and Hilmar. Thanks to thousands of seafarers in port.
In a statement from the Landsbjörg Accident Protection Company, it is stated that everyone present has risen from their seats and honored Hilmar when he received the recognition.
It also states that the Selfoss National Assembly is now gathered at one of the hundreds of Landsbjörg’s associations, and they will elect the company new leadership over the weekend.
