Hidroelectrica puts floating photovoltaic plants on Olt
Hidroelectrica announces the signing of the works contract for the installation of floating photovoltaic power plants on the Olt river, according to a report sent to the stock exchange.
The project represents an important step in the strategy of the company to diversify renewable energy sources and efficient use of the existing infrastructure, the statement said. The main purpose of the investment is to increase the capacity for renewable electricity production by installing photovoltaic systems on the roofs of the 20 hydroelectric plants held by Hidroelectrica, located on the middle and lower sector of the Olt river.
The contract was awarded following a tender, the winner being served SRL with the subcontractor Electroplus SRL.
This investment marks a premiere for the company, being the first photovoltaic panels in Hidroelectrica, the company shows. The state controlled society plans to enter the photovoltaic sector, aiming to have 300 MW capabilities.
