Hey! Telecom Hidden Subscription with which the Digi counter: Testle purchase submits a complaint
Hey! Telecom, the low -cost brand of telecom provider Orange Belgium, takes gas back in the competition with newcomer Digi Belgium. The provider has his cheapest 5 euro subscription, a response to the arrival of Digi, hidden on his website.
The arrival of Digi to Belgium led to nervousness on the telecom market in December. The newcomer launched a subscription of 5 euros per month for unlimited mobile calling and texting and 15 GB data. Orange reacted the most aggressive through his daughter brand Hey! Telecom to offer the same, moreover – in contrast to Digi – with 5G connection.
In the first months, Digi did not seem to cause any big shifts. Market leader Proximus said that the number of defectors quickly decreased after the launch. Orange also saw no heavy impact.
In recent weeks, Orange even took gas back in his counter -offensive. The offer from Hey! From the website of 5 euros seems to have disappeared and there is now mobile subscriptions « from 9 euros per month » on the homepage. Only very attentive consumers who scroll all the way down and go through the « Frequently Asked Questions » section will find out that the 5 -euro subscription still exists.
Orange says that the design of the website is changed « to make the choice for our customers clearer ». That adjustment should go online soon, it sounds.
Consumer organization Tewelkoop finds communication misleading and has filed a complaint with the jury for ethical practices on advertising (JEP), a self -regulating body of the Belgian advertising sector.
