Here you will find the best bearnaise
Good but not unforgettable
ICA Selection – 3+/5
Nice and buttermild, but a little too sour. It is still a good all-round sauce with nice fullness and nice texture.
Price per kilos: approx. 85 kr.
Lohmander – 3/5
Soft and comfortable in taste, but a little too careful. Fits well with those who prefer a mild and round variant. However, quite fat.
Price per kilos: approx. 62 Kr.
Rydbergs – 3/5
Creamy and easy to pour. However, the taste is a little flat and it lacks character. Good for kids or delicate palates.
Price per kilos: approx. 66 Kr.
They disappoint
Garant – 2/5
The texture is fine and there is a bit of tarragon, but the aftertaste is both fat and artificial. It seems heavy and a little dull.
Price per kilos: approx. 52 Kr.
Erik – 2/5
A bold bomb without balance. Although the texture is good and the color neat, the taste is too sour and spicy in a confusing way.
Price per kilos: approx. 82 Kr.
The bottom scraper of the test
Örneborgs – 1/5
The cheapest – and unfortunately also the worst. It tastes stinging, too sour and most of all reminiscent of mayonnaise with vinegar. The only sauce the test panel simply would not eat up.
Price per kilos: approx. 52 Kr.
You don’t have to make bearnaise from scratch to get a good sauce – but it pays to choose carefully.
If you want the best taste and don’t care about the price, choose Danyel Couet. If the budget is smaller, but the taste requirements high, then go for Coop. And if you want to try something different, Jurskog’s spicy version is a fun choice.
