Henrikh Mkhitaryan meets FC Bayern Munich with Inter Milan
The football world turns quickly. Hundreds of professionals change their club every year, migrated stars are replaced with new players. Especially when former Bundesliga professionals change abroad, they quickly disappear from public perception in Germany. Only after a few years are they rediscovered by the inclined football fan, for example at a World Cup Or in the Champions League. The rediscovery is then commented on with the following sentence: « What, he still plays? »
Best field player in the Bundesliga: Mkhitaryan shines in Dortmund
It is similar to many football fans with Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The Armenian was Schachtar Donetsk in summer 2013 switched to Borussia Dortmund. The Dortmunders had paid an impressive 27.5 million euros for Mkhitaryan, more than ever for a player.
In Dortmund, the offensive midfielder shone with his technical skills and his game intelligence, but revealed weaknesses again and again, especially in the goal. In the meantime, it was even considered a misconception. Only in his third season at the BVB Mkhitaryan finally turned up: In 31 Bundesliga games, he scored eleven goals, prepared 20 goals and was elected as the best field player in the league.
Mkhitaryan is an important support for Inters offensive game
In summer 2016, Mkhitaryan, who speaks six languages and likes to play chess in his free time, switched to Manchester United for 42 million euros. From there it went over FC Arsenal and AS Rome to his current club Inter Milan in the summer of 2022. Although he let his football qualities flash again and again at his past stations, he did not permanently prevailed in top European football.
At Inter, the now 36-year-old is no longer an undisputed regular player, but has nevertheless developed into an important support in the offensive game. With Inters 2-1 victory in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals Against Bayern Munich he stood in the starting eleven and also in the second leg against Bayern on Wednesday evening (9 p.m./Dazn) he should play again from the beginning.
Then Mkhitaryan can pay an old bill with the Munich team. Because in Dortmund the big titles were denied. Mkhitaryan and BVB against Bayern had no chance in the league and it didn’t go any better in the trophy either. In his three years at Dortmund, the Armenian was three times in the cup final, each time the Borussians lost. Two of these defeats put it against, how could it be otherwise, Bayern Munich. Should he take revenge and throw the FCB with Inter from the premier class, Bayern fans Mkhitaryan should at least not forget so quickly.
