Help, I am my navigation system listening!
For me it is clearly one of the greatest inventions in recent decades: the navigation device. I am convinced that it has already saved many relationships from secure failure.
I lively remember the vacation trips of my childhood: my father, tense and cursing at the wheel, next to my mother, who tried to find the right descent with a map as big as a beach towel. Of course, it was even more complicated if you were traveling alone. Pure stress on how I experienced it countless times myself!
Three shelf meters for bloody business
But then the navigation system came to my life, or by suction cup. « Please turn right in 300 meters » – without annoyed undertone, without discussion. Too good to be true. Indeed, because once it laid me in the middle of a busy pedestrian zone. Another time it sent me to a dead end, so narrow that when the sweat was reversed, I shot me out of all pores. Once I almost landed in a stream.
I am convinced that my navigation system has developed its own personality.
Nevertheless, I follow my navigation system – now integrated in the car – to this day, which is questionable. Because I am convinced that it has developed its own personality. Several times a year I go to the same holiday destination in France. My navigation system knows the goal and, however, consistently refuses to get there directly. Instead, it shows me the rural splendor in all its bumpy beauty.
In the meantime I have suspected that my navigation system doesn’t just want to handle traffic, no, it wants to discover the world instead of just race on monotonous motorways. Or it is fun to choose the most annoying instead of the fastest route for me.
When the garden bed becomes a major event
But since I am heard for him, I have missed it over the years to remember the route. Before my brain jumps, I was bent. And when the legendary announcement comes – « please » -, of course, where turns are completely excluded, I do it every time: I am prepared on the next vacation. Then I show the navigation system where it goes!
From the life of the LW journalists
The “gazettchen” is an informal column in which the authors legally tell about their everyday experiences or even give an insight into their thoughts. This has a long tradition: On December 3, 1946, an opinion with the title « Today » appears for the first time at the top of the side left on the first local side in the « Luxemburger Word ». On January 13, 1971, the « Gazettchen », which has been extremely popular with readers, then became the « gazette », which has kept its Premium-Platz in Luxembourg’s top-class daily newspaper to this day and across all layout.
