The tragedy of a little girl took place in a small village of Okunin near Sulechów (Lubuskie Voivodeship). Magdalena J. (42 years old) with Rafał B. (45 years old) live at home at the end of the village. Over three years ago, their daughter Helenka was born.
Świebodzin: How was Helenka's extreme starvation?
My mother dealt with little Helenka. She once ran a boutique in Świebodzin, but since she closed him, she devoted herself to taking care of her daughter. The girl did not send to the nursery. The father is a retired policeman. He was a district in Zielona Góra, but he ended his service two years ago.
Helenka was hospitalized in mid -December 2024. She was brought by her parents, claiming that she stopped eating. However, the child's sight scared doctors. It weighed only 8 kg and was extremely starved. Doctors notified the police. It turned out that the child only took grapes and mother's milk.
The prosecutor's office initiated an investigation and parents were accused of neglecting a child in a way that could lead to serious health problems threatening her life. This crime is punishable by three to 20 years imprisonment.

From now on they are also in custody. The court has just decided that the marriage would spend another three months in isolation, during which psychiatrists will conduct observations. A spokeswoman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Zielona Góra, prosecutor Ewa Antonowicz, announced, however, that additional information in this case will not be provided for the good of the proceedings.
Parents do not plead guilty and present their own version of events, claiming that their daughter had had vegetables and fruits before and refused to eat.
The girl, in turn, left the hospital at the beginning of January 2025, is currently accustomed to a foster family and remains under the care of specialist doctors, because she still awaits the long process of rehabilitation and socialization.
