Heavy evening rush hour expected on Buitenring: Emergency repair Bruges Take until Saturday morning (Vilvoorde)

The nuisance on the Buitenring in Vilvoorde will last until Saturday morning. Until as long as the repair of the bridge joint profile on the bridge over the Medialaan that was released on Friday morning, lasts.
For safety reasons, the right row of the three lanes on the Brussels Buitenring towards Grimbergen was immediately closed. An inspection team of the Agency for Roads and Traffic came to the scene and called in a contractor for an urgent repair.
The Flemish Traffic Center warns of heavy traffic nuisance. Around noon there were already more than half an hour of traffic jams between Sint-Stevens-Woluwe and Vilvoorde-Koninglo. Together with the current works on the Vilvoorde viaduct, the repair causes major delays. Directors are advised to avoid the region. Traffic between East and West is diverted via Antwerp, although the traffic center also warns on Friday pressure. The temporary repair runs until Saturday morning 24 May at 6 am. The right -hand lane will remain completely closed until 8 pm tonight. After that, the traffic runs temporarily on the right -hand lane and the road lane, so that the middle lane can be tackled. Two lanes always remain available.
The final repair with a tailor -made metal joint profile will follow within a few weeks. Then the other bridge joints on the Medialaanbrug are also tackled. The underside of the bridge was already renovated in 2023, the road surface is still on the schedule later. (DBG)
