Health of Mayor Guy D’Haeseleer (56) goes downhill again: « The chance of natural recovery is non -existent » (Ninove)

Ninove

It is again going in the wrong direction with the medical condition of Guy D’Haeseleer (56), the mayor of Ninove. Just before the weekend there was a little hope for a natural recovery from his liver, after he was urgently admitted with hepatitis. « A natural recovery is now non -existent, » responds D’Haeseleer himself from the hospital.

A week after the emergency admission of Guy D’Haeseleer (Forza Ninove) by hepatitis, the hope for a natural recovery of his liver seems completely stored away. Initially he was admitted to the Azorg Hospital in Aalst, the former Onze-Lieve-Vrouwziekenhuis. But there he was almost immediately referred to the UZ van Gent. Since a liver transplant was penalized, it was immediately looking for a donor.

Last Friday, D’Haeseleers Plus daughter Malika Sclacmender came out with a bright spot. Doctors saw a slight improvement in their liver values. A transplant was therefore postponed for a while, but the condition of the Ninoof mayor remained unchanged since then.

No view of donor

On Wednesday it became clear that the situation of D’Haeseleer is again taking the wrong direction. « The chance of a natural recovery is non -existent, » he responds from the hospital. A donor is still being searched for at the moment. « For the time being there is no view of a donor and therefore an operation, » it says. If a donor is found, the operation should be able to take place on Thursday or Friday.

« The doctors have prepared everything and if a suitable donor liver becomes available, the transplant will most likely take place on Thursday”

PLUS daughter Malika SclacMender, herself ships in Ninove, also confirms the acute phase of D’Haeseleer. « It’s a hard blow, especially because we hoped for get well, » she says. « Today he is still undergoing a viewing operation to assess whether his heart is strong enough to be able to cope with a heavy intervention. The doctors have prepared everything and if a suitable donor liver becomes available, the transplant will most likely take place on Thursday. »

SCLACMENDER speaks of a frightening period, but she continues to believe in a successful outcome. « Guy is an incredible fighter. He has ended so much and even now he doesn’t just won himself, » said the plus daughter of the mayor. (BSB)
