Headlights without light

In a time when the world has new sources of geostrategic instability and uncertainties that intensely affect economies, I verified, by analyzing in detail the electoral programs of parties a deep, and worrying, lack of opinions, visions and projects that allow Portugal to have projects and positions of international intervention in economics, diplomacy, defense and geopolitics.

I consider that the time we cross requires deep reflections and clear positions on the future and conditioning to the normal functioning of the NATO. Portugal as a western country in Europe and holder of one of the most important PSEE in the world should not seriously neglect in the way parties make such important stories. In addition to yes to no, primary level, to permanence in the NATO the parties have no positions or development proposals. The absence of positions extend to such important materials as the creation of a joint European military force, the development and modernization of the Armed Forces, with particular emphasis on, in a European context and in the face of gigantic EEE, the importance of developing the navy by ensuring a European reference role for such an important institution. There is no written line in any of the programs regarding investments in science, technology and research applied to develop double -use (civil and military) solutions that allow better exploration the economic and geostrategic potential of the Atlantic Sea.

There are no references to Ukraine conflicts or the Middle East. There are no clear positions regarding Israel, Palestine and Iran. There is no evidence in these programs on the vision of economic relations with China. I consider that Portugal with the history of centuries of good relationship with China, in what Macao concerns, has an obligation to lead bridges in Europe with China; difficult? Yes, but the weak does not pray the story.

There are no references to the development of innovation and socioeconomic sharing platforms in Lusophony. Negligence on one of the most evident areas of international action condemns disability the use of common history and the common language to various continents. The Portuguese language is the most spoken in the southern hemisphere. This linguistic and historical potential has no translation in the concern or strategic vision of the weak programs of the parties they intend to govern (badly because they are effectively weak). Leaders and programs are effectively headlights without light.

The lack of notion about the Portuguese economy and the development of the Portuguese economy is well evident in the absence of a strategy for Portugal. The null mode as they address Portugal’s position in the world is another demonstration of disability to (well) govern the country.

Regardless of Sunday’s outcome we will not have common destinations a robust, challenging and aggregating project. We will watch many words, a lot of debate, a lot of attack, a lot of victimization, but we will not leave the same place.

The political system based on the autocracy of party control is a strong impediment to the meritocratic route of access to power. You boys They became the headlights.
