He takes over for Aaron Mensing

When Denmark meets France in next week's EHF Euro Cup matches, it will be with a new, young profile on the left back. National coach Nikolaj Jacobsen has had to make changes to the squad after a serious injury, and the solution has been found in Aalborg Handball.

21-year-old Marinus Munk gets the chance for the first time on the A national team.

It happens after a scan confirmed that German MT Melsungen player Aaron Mensing has torn his Achilles tendon over. Thus, Jacobsen had to think quickly, and the election fell on the Aalborg talent, which has impressed in both the domestic league and the Champions League.

A new name – but not for Jacobsen

Although Marinus Munk has not previously been part of the A-national team, he is far from an undescribed magazine for the Danish national coach.

« Marinus has been in a good development and is a great talent. He is one we have kept a close eye on because he has some individual qualities we think he can contribute to the national team. (…) I had already thought of him as an opportunity for the national team collection for May, but with some cancellations this time, it is fine to try him already, » says Nikolaj Jacobsen Danish handball.

Munk has previously performed 18 times for the Danish youth national teams and is now being thrown into one of the biggest challenges in his career when he pulls the red jersey over his head against France.
