He sent to work at the church for vaccinations at « Sink »
Two employees at a private clinic in the Capital received suspended penalties and were forced to perform unpaid work at the church to carry out vaccinations ‘at the sink’ during the Covid pandemic.
Laura Andreea Gheorghe and Maria Lazăr were sentenced by the Bucharest Court to 2 years and 3 months imprisonment, respectively 2 years and 4 months imprisonment, both with suspension, for committing the offenses of taking bribes and computer science in continuous form.
They must also carry out unpaid work for the benefit of the community for a period of 60 days within the Bucharest Archdiocese or the Administration of the Public Domain Sector 1.
The two employees benefited from reduced penalties, after recognizing their guilt and concluded agreements with the prosecutors from the General Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the documents from the file, Laura Andreea Gheorghe acknowledged that, as a registrar of the ‘Eligon’ vaccination center, she received through an intermediary, between November 2021-February 2022, money from several persons (in total 1,400 lei), to illegally attest that the respective persons were vaccinated by the European Covid and the European Covid certificate.
The EU Digital Certificate was introduced to allow travel abroad, when Member States restricted travel during pandemic, a measure applied until August 2022.
In the same file, the other employee of the clinic, Maria Lazăr, acknowledged in front of the prosecutors that, between August 2021 and March 2022, she received, directly or indirectly (through her son), various amounts of money that did not meet, in a total value of 14,700 lei, from several persons, in exchange for the certification, in exchange for the certification.
If Laura Andreea Gheorghe charged a fixed ‘tariff’ of 200 lei for a false certificate, the amounts required by Maria Lazăr vary between 500 and 2,000 lei.
