He had knives, bayonets and a Confucius work with him. Mieszko R. confessed to an attack on the University of Warsaw
The tragedy took place on May 7. It came at 18.40 – at this time – the last lecture at the Auditorium Maximum ended. The building was left by third -year students of the Faculty of Law. Twenty minutes later, Mrs. Małgorzata was also to end. When she closed the door, a 22-year-old law student attacked her. He had an ax with him.
The SOP agent helped the killer overpower
The woman died on the spot, had extensive head injuries. A 39-worker was also injured, a security guard who was the first to help. A moment later he was joined by an officer of the State Protection Service, who at that time stayed together with the Minister of Justice Adam Bodnar.
The killer was immediately detained. He went to the detention center, and the next day he was sent to the prosecutor’s office, where he was questioned and heard the allegations. The evidence gathered by investigators indicate that the allegations include particularly brutal deprivation of a woman’s life, and also an attempt to kill a university guard employee and insulting the corpse.
The law student pleaded guilty and is silent
He will also go to psychiatric examinations, and most likely also for forensic psychiatric observation in a special department of court psychiatry.
Later, prosecutor Piotr Antoni Skiba from the District Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw and junior inspector met with journalists with journalists. Robert Szumiata, spokesman for KSP.
– In this matter, we do not ask: who, how? In this matter, we ask ourselves: why? Why did an attack in a public place, a fatal attack, where we are dealing with two victims, where a respected person was killed, where we are dealing with the perpetration of a third year student of the law of the University of Warsaw – Piotr Antoni Skiba began during the evening press conference.
He also explained that Mieszko R. confessed to the accusations. He will also go to psychiatric examinations, because the explanations he submitted raised investigative doubts as to his health. It was established that the killer had not used the help of a psychiatrist so far. He did not take any medicine, and in the last 12 months there were no prescriptions at all.
At the moment, investigators are waiting for the results of specialist expert opinions, including toxicological and those related to the autopsy that will prove to be decisive for further investigation.
The prosecutor also noted that the interrogation of the 22-year-old took a long time and took place in the presence of two lawyers. The man confessed to the alleged acts, but at the same time refused to answer most of the questions.
Search of the apartment and the first arrangements
The student’s apartment was also thoroughly checked. And no evidence was secured in it or traces that could be relevant to the proceedings.
The officers determined that on the day the crime occurred, the man first appeared in the Tri -City, and then came to Warsaw and moved around the University of Warsaw. He had a copy of Confucius and knives and bayonets with him.
When asked journalists, did the perpetrator know his victim? « At this stage, there is no indication that the suspect knew the victim personally and it was a planned action in relation to this particular person, » the prosecutor replied.
And he added that monitoring recordings exclude earlier reports that he had previously moved with the removed ax. According to investigators, the tool remained in the bag until the attack occurred.
