Have used 71% of the cod quota
Almost 49,000 tonnes of cod quota is still unused by the 172,266 tonnes that are authorized during the current fishing year ending August 31. The Icelandic fishing fleet has therefore used over 71% of the cod quota.
This can be read from the Directorate of Fisheries’s database, but it is worth noting that it can take a few days for landings to be registered in the foundation.
The number of boats and ships have already completed all the cod quota they were allocated and can therefore expect that someone will be tied to the dock until the fishing year.
The situation in the haddock is similar, where 71% of 63 thousand tonnes of haddock quota has been landed. There are no more than 18,000 tonnes.
The Icelandic fishing vessels have landed about 23.7 thousand tonnes of goldfish since the beginning of the fishing year 2024/2025, which began on September 1. Thus, about 56% of 42 thousand tonnes of basket quota has been landed.
As in previous years, fishing has been poorly fishing for the quota and after catching over 49,000 tonnes of over 67 thousand tonnes of saithe quota.
It has also been possible to land about half of the catfish, green halibut and gold salmon that are authorized during the fishing year.
