Have to take action in the crisis of the elderly care

Svein Berg in Frp and Left's Trine Noodt agree with the description of the situation; There is a full crisis in the elderly care in Alta municipality.

Currently, Invit from Noodt and Left to make re -prioritization in investment and operations is rejected by Berg. The unanimous reality description between position and opposition, and that it engages many citizens who see the consequences already, means that politicians must now together sit down for a reality check of their own priorities.

It is impossible to understand for the inhabitants of Alta that there was no money to start the construction of a new department at the Alta care center, which would provide 56 new full -time institutional places.

The investment is estimated at around NOK 200 million. However, the politicians have concluded that the municipal economy cannot withstand the investment and has pushed a new department at AOS completely out of the financial plan. That means the earliest realization sometime in the 2030s.

When it happens at the same time as politicians almost without debate choose to increase the investment framework for the new Komsa school, from NOK 300 to 650 million, it is difficult to understand that the municipal economy can withstand new NOK 350 million to get the hall and one extra parallel. Then of course it is allowed to call us party brakes when we have so many good causes.

From some politicians, it is maintained that these are investments, and that elderly care is just as much in crisis due to lack of operating economy. Among other things, we see that Frp exemplates that the home service is cut by two positions, and that the elderly do not get help with cleaning and shopping. They are referred to private offers.

The crisis is not just to be found in the investment budget. Of course, it is primarily in the operation where relatives cry because there are no nursing homes for their dear older family members.

The investment budget is an important reason why there is no money to spare. With NOK 650 million spent at a new large school, this means almost NOK 60 million in capital expenses on the operating budget, each year up to 2060.

The politicians violate the rule of action with regard to debt ratio dramatically. Unfortunately without anyone taking this up for debate.

The politicians in Alta end up on the wrong side of the story if they do not sit together, and clarify their own priorities. The description of reality everyone agrees. Unfortunately, the paralysis also seems to be a collection.

Alta municipality is not alone. In today's newspaper, former chief shop steward in Loppa, Laila Johansen, takes a settlement with the cuts at Nerstranda, it will be the nursing home in Øksfjord.

We think everyone agrees that it is not particularly worthwhile to use the cheese grinder on exactly these budget items.

The consequence is also often visible to both the elderly and the relatives, especially in times when many find that the elderly can be malnourished. There is so little to win and so much to lose on such cuts.

Especially unmusically, the municipal peaks in Loppa are now granting themselves wage jumps that far exceed the salary and cost level in the society they serve.

We realize that many municipalities have been through tough processes, but especially then it is important to note that you actually have to make priorities.
