The Tax Agency has just published a statementthat shows a surprisingly high number of errors among Danes earning money through digital rental platforms such as GoMore and Airbnb. 93 percent of the controlled cases from 2024 contained errors – and the result is charges of a total of DKK 21 million, the highest level ever in the category.

The digital platforms that make it easy to match the landlord and tenant have made the sharing economy for publicity. However, many of the platforms do not automatically report information to the Tax Agency, which means that the Danes themselves have to make sure that the income. It happens far from always.

The errors range from failure to register amounts to incorrectly stated deductions and conscious omissions. According to the Tax Agency, the area is susceptible to both errors and decidedly cheating, and therefore control has intensified in recent years. Since 2020, more than 5,000 checks have been carried out, and in 2024 alone, about 1,200 targeted cases were made.
