NSR and co are constantly saying that those who are to varying degrees of Sami descent and cannot speak Sami have lost their language. This is as if a person who is of at least 1/8 Sami descent, was born with a Sami language and has then lost it due to. A research.

As an example: If he or she had a grandmother who spoke Sami and no other ancestors and ancestors could speak Sami, according to NSR and co, they have lost their language, if he or she cannot speak Sami.

Have you ever heard that it has been claimed that descendants of immigrants who have come to Norway over the last 50 years and cannot their ancestors ‘and ancestors’ language have lost their language? Of course not. No one claims that such a claim will be ridiculous.

But when NSR and Co claim the same about descendants of Sami speakers who cannot be Sami, this is not seen as ridiculous. Why has it become so?
