Haribo also recalls candy in Belgium due to possible presence of cannabis

Haribo also recalls candy in our country because consumption can lead to health problems. It is about the same lot number as the sweets in which cannabis was found in the Netherlands. It is not clear in which Belgian stores the large packages were sold. Consumers are asked to send the product to the Belgian headquarters in Kontich.

It concerns kilo bags from the product Happy Cola F! ZZ, with an expiration date until January 2026. Haribo reports in a joint communication with the FAVV Food Agency that can lead to health problems such as dizziness. It is also about bags with exactly the same production code (L341-4002307906) if they have been recalled in the Netherlands due to the presence of cannabis.

The cannabis was discovered after several people in the Netherlands, both children and adults, had fallen ill after eating the cola bottles. They reported that to the police. « How the cannabis ended up in the sweets is as yet unknown. Further investigation into this is being done by the police, » said the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority to the Dutch press agency ANP.

Send to head office

In the Netherlands it has been three bags so far, but as a precaution, Haribo recalls the full stock in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. « The investigation by the authorities relates to a limited number of reports and one specific product in the east of the Netherlands. In consultation with the authorities, we have started a preventive recall as a precaution, » says Patrick Tax, marketing head for Haribo Netherlands and Belgium. According to the FASFC, no reports have been received in our country of people who have become unwell after eating the candy. With consumption, it is recommended to contact the doctor immediately.

Haribo asks Belgian consumers who have the product, not to bring it back to the store, but to send it including the packaging to the Belgian head office: Haribo Belgium BV, Duffelsesteenweg 233, 2550 Kontich. It is asked to add data and a bank account number so that they can get their money back.
