Halla laid a flowerpot to a monument in Hiroshima
Halla Tómasdóttir, President of Iceland, today laid a flowerpot for a monument to the victims of the attack on Hiroshima in 1945, in the presence of Mikihara Nakai, Hiroshima’s Deputy Mayor. The monument is in the Peace Park in Hiroshima.
On the occasion, Halla thanked the Deputy Mayor for the ceremony and at the same time discussed the importance of working in peace in the world.
After the ceremony, a collection was held on the attack, but a nuclear bomb was thrown on the city on August 6, 1945, which was the first time that such a weapon was used in war.
Yoshifumi Ishida, Museum Director of the Hiroshima Museum, showed Halla and her escorts the museum and it was clear that the president considered the refreshment shocking. With her was Keiko Ogura, an 87 -year -old Japanese woman who survived the explosion in the city. Made the presence of Ogura the material even more personal, but it is incredible and clear in presentation.
In the city center of Hiroshima, a large garden is in memory of the consequences of the nuclear bomb that Americans launched on the city during World War II. The garden is near the place where the bomb exploded, but in a huge area there was closer destruction and tens of thousands died as soon as tens of thousands later.

Sore memories
After that, a meeting room was held in a nearby building, from which there is a view of part of the Peace Park.
There, Ogura told the story of the city, the people who suffered and how survivors dealt with horrible conditions. It is her fresh child memory to see the dead people, but her father burned about 700 bodies in the public park, according to her case, so that they did not rot on the streets.
In present, among other things, were the exceptional students at the University of the University who are engaged in international studies and, of the number, they got to ask Halla questions after she thanked the refreshment. The three students were from China, the fourth from Russia and the fifth from Burkina Faso.
