Halkidiki: Spiral blasted ATM – smooth thousands of euros

As Polygyros Security Police managed to solve, the two men 45 and 36 years old approached after midnight for two years ATMs at bank branches or businesses, and using tools violated part of the ATMs, where they placed an explosive material.

They mainly used stolen vehicles that were removed a few days earlier and after their escape abandoned them in remote areas, after being surrounded by bleach and white dust.

For the 45 -year -old, who is incarcerated in a detention facility in the country and was the leading mind of the burglary, a case was filed for an armed robbery in a jewelry store in October 2017, also in Halkidiki.

The 36 -year -old had a supportive role in ensuring the approach and escape from the points they had targeted.

In the case, other people are involved, but they have not been identified.

So far five cases have been resolved in areas in Halkidiki, namely:

– Two ATM thefts made in September 2023 and November 2024 in areas of Kassandra, deducting a total of 170,950 euros.

– Three attempts to theft of ATMs made in October 2023 and May 2024, containing more than 490,000 euros. In one of these cases they caused an explosion, but they could not remove anything. The two attempts were again in Kassandra and one in the area of ​​the Municipality of Nea Propontis.

For their actions they used 4 IX, a motorcycle and a pair of foreign vehicle registration plates, which were removed from Thessaloniki areas.

The 2 stolen IXs were found in areas of Halkidiki, which were stolen with bleach and white dust.

The stolen two -wheeled motorcycle was also identified. The stolen vehicles were attributed to their legal owners.

In one of the above cases, as through escape, they used a motorized boat, which had been removed from the Halkidiki area, which was identified.

In a survey conducted in a caravan used as a « kavatza » in the Halkidiki area, two bottles of bleach, a sprayer and a bag containing clothing were found and confiscated.

In surveys conducted in their homes, in areas of Halkidiki and Thessaloniki, a total of 10 cell phones and 20 SIM cards were found and confiscated.

A vehicle used by the second national man was also seized.

Police investigation is continuing both to identify their associates and for their involvement in other similar crimes.

The case file against them will be submitted to the Halkidiki Public Prosecutor.
